River helping Ocean up a hill because Ocean was too tired to keep going

A snippet of a conversation I overheard as the boys were getting ready for bed upstairs:

Ocean was arguing with his dad about going to bed, which is fairly normal. He doesn't like shutting down and going to sleep.

Ocean: "Going to sleep is River's destiny!"

So many questions. How does he even know the word destiny? Why does he think it's River's destiny to go to sleep? Why would he use this as an argument for why he (Ocean) shouldn't go to sleep?
