Family Hiking

Mr M doesn't usually get to go with us on our local, weekly hikes, but last week he was able to. We went to our local trails park to show him the river crossing that we found last time we visited. We've received a lot of rain this summer, but it had been a couple days since the last rain and the water level was the same as before.

River insisted on showing daddy the "waterfall" he'd found last time

Ocean thought he was such a big kid, walking and exploring all on his own. He walked the whole way back to the car (about 3/4 mile) because I didn't want to strap his wet and sandy body on my back. He did walk slowly, but since Mr M was along, he was able to walk ahead with Sunshine and River while I hung back with Ocean. I had to cajole him a bit with gummy bears when he slowed to a stop, but he didn't object to that too much :) It was nice to have a more freedom and flexibility in our speed, and it wouldn't have been possible if Mr M hadn't been able to join us.

River had fun throwing rocks in the river

Ocean had fun with rocks as well, though he stuck to the ones in the pathway, rather than in the water
Sunshine was sure happy to have daddy along

gotta check out the interesting tree roots
