Thursday Sunshine and I participated in our local turkey trot for the seventh year in a row. It was River's fourth year and Ocean's second year "participating". They've always ridden in the jogger or been strapped to Mr M's chest, so their participation is a bit less intense than Sunshine and mine :) I'm debating having River run/walk it next year- our hikes aren't quite 3 miles yet, but they will be by then and he's got a lot of energy, so I think he'd do fine.
Sunshine and I ran the first 1.25 or so miles before stopping to walk up the first hill. My Garmin battery is dying, so even though I charged it the day before, it was dead that morning :( I've had it for 7 or 8 years, so I guess it's lived a good life, but I'm not ready to replace it yet.
In any case, since my Garmin was dead I don't have my usual stats for time and distance. Sunshine's old enough that she doesn't need to stay with me the whole race, so I made sure she knew she could go ahead or fall behind as needed. She ran ahead during the color run, which gave her confidence in being by herself during the race. As it happened she stayed with me till the last half mile or so, when she fell behind me. She did really well though and knocked 10 minutes off of last year's time!
I, on the other hand, ran my slowest turkey trot yet. In my defense, I was pushing two not-so-little boys in the jogger. I ran 3.1 miles in 41:59. I think my decreased treadmill time also influenced the slower time. I'm a bit disappointed with my time but I feel good about my effort.

Monday: walked about 2 miles around various battlefield sites as we worked on one of Sunshine's Jr Ranger badges. I had my Garmin on, but I kept forgetting to stop and start it as I got in and out of the car. Oops.
Thursday: 3.1 mile Turkey Trot
Friday: We hiked another portion of the AT in Shenandoah NP - 1.8 miles #optoutside
total mileage: about 7.0 miles
