don't the boys look thrilled?
I mentioned yesterday that Saturday was another two race day. The evening race was a lot easier than last Saturday's cross country 5k, though. This race was another glow run ( I did one in April), but that was a 5k race. This race had a 5k option, but I figured the 1 mile race would be more fun for the kiddos. Plus I haven't done a 1 mile race yet.
all blinged up
This race was further away than I originally thought, so we probably won't do it again, but we did have a good time. Sunshine ran most of the race and did a great job. I pushed the boys and ran most of it as well. I think there was one hill that we stopped and walked up, but we ran the rest of it. This was the first race where I've pushed both boys in the jogger.
As I rounded the final curve into the finish line with more energy than normal at the end I realized I haven't run a 1 mile race since I was on the high school track team in 9th grade. I only ran track in 9th grade because I couldn't handle the repetition of the 1 mile and 2 mile races, which were the only events I ran. I'm not a sprinter so I got the longer, very repetitive races.
In any case, I had fun running a race that was shorter than what I usually run. There's a couple local 1 mile road races that are on Sundays, but I'm going to keep looking to see if I can find one that's on a Saturday. If so, I want to run it without any kiddos so I can see how fast I can go.
This was just a fun run and I forgot to start my Garmin, but they did have a clock running. Though now that I think of it, the 5k race started 5 or 6 minutes before the 1 mile race, so the timer must have been running off the 5k start, not the 1 mile start. Which makes the clock time make more sense. 16:38 is awfully slow for a 1 mile race that I actually ran most of. I'm not sure of the exact time difference between starts, so I'll say it was 5 minutes, which makes our finish time 11:38. If it was a 6 minute difference, than the finish time was 10:38. Either time is possible.
