Conquering my inner OCD

This morning I stretched, then walked for an hour. During that time I jogged for 3 or 4 minutes, just to get a feel for how my body was doing, and it wasn't too bad. Though it's definitely easier to run when not pushing a toddler in a jogging stroller. It was a beautiful day for a walk: warm, sunny, and just the slightest hint of a breeze. I enjoyed it while I could, since there's rumors of snow coming on Saturday.

After lunch we ran some errands, then I started reading 'Uglies' by Scott Westerfeld, and got into the book instead of working on my quilts. It was pretty good, and I requested the rest of his books from the library. I read 'Peeps' awhile ago, that one was kinda freaky; this one was an interesting look at what society considers 'normal' and 'beautiful'.

This evening I finished binding two of the quilts. My inner OCD really wanted to stay up and finish the third one, but I need to get to bed on time, and if I stay up to finish the quilt that won't be happening. So I'm writing my post and then heading to bed, firmly squashing my inner OCD tendencies.
While I'm talking about books, I should mention 'Brisingr' by Christopher Paolini. It's the third book in a planned trilogy, but as I was reading it, I was 60 pages from the finish, and there was no way it could come to a good end in that time. So I flipped to the end, and after the last page was a note saying the story would conclude in the next book. So much for a 'trilogy'. The unfortunate thing is that it took several years for him to write this one, so who knows when the fourth one will come out. It was good, but some of the scenes were unnecessarily long and detailed, I thought.

  1. You have to read the rest of the Uglies series. He just came out with a 4th one that I borrowed from Jessica. I didn't 'love' them, but I do 'really like' them. I think if I were 15 or so I would 'love' them. I have to admit to being a bit put out on the whole Brisingr trilogy/not a trilogy thing. I was definitely looking for an ending.
